Issue
Users encountered errors when attempting to install the DataHub Slack app after approval. The error occurred specifically at step 6 of the installation process, immediately after clicking the "Allow" button on Slack's OAuth consent screen.
Common Error Messages:
- OAuth installation failed
- Failed to complete Slack app authorization
- Error after clicking "Allow" in Slack installation
Solution
The Slack app installation flow has been fixed to properly handle the OAuth callback. The issue was related to how empty dictionaries were processed for optional parameters during the installation endpoint.
To install the DataHub Slack app: 1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Slack in DataHub 2. Click "Install Slack App" 3. Follow the Slack OAuth prompts 4. Grant the requested permissions 5. Click "Allow" 6. You should be redirected back to DataHub successfully
If installation still fails: - Verify your DataHub instance URL is accessible from Slack servers - Check that redirect URIs are properly configured - Ensure you have admin permissions in both DataHub and Slack
Additional Notes
Fixed in version v0.3.13. The Slack integration now also supports the /datahub slash command and automatic user memberID hydration for improved subscription management.
